Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup sourdough starter (active)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups old-fashioned oats
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper or grease it.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter until golden brown and fragrant, stirring constantly (about 5 minutes).
  3. In a large bowl, mix the browned butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar until smooth.
  4. Add in the sourdough starter and vanilla extract; mix until combined.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together flour, oats, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients until just combined—do not overmix.
  6. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden on top and firm in the center. Allow to cool before slicing.
