Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 2 tsp chai spice blend (cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, cloves)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 4 oz cream cheese (softened)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk and active dry yeast; let stand for 5 minutes until frothy. Mix in melted butter, pumpkin puree, and sugars.
  2. Stir in the egg and chai spices. Gradually add flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Let rise in an oiled bowl covered with a cloth for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Roll out the dough into a rectangle. Spread melted butter on top, then sprinkle with brown sugar mixed with chai spices.
  5. Roll tightly from one long end to form a log. Slice into equal pieces and place in a greased baking dish.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
  7. For the glaze, beat together powdered sugar and cream cheese until smooth; drizzle over warm rolls before serving.
