Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • Zest of 2 oranges
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 3 tbsp orange juice (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit until frothy (about 5 minutes).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, blend flour and salt. Add yeast mixture, melted butter, and eggs; mix until combined.
  3. Knead dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm area for about 1 hour until doubled.
  4. Roll out dough into a rectangle (½ inch thick). Spread softened butter over the dough, sprinkle with sugar and orange zest, then roll tightly into logs.
  5. Cut into slices (about 2 inches thick) and place in a greased baking dish. Let rise again for 30 minutes while preheating oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
  6. For the glaze, mix powdered sugar with orange juice and drizzle over warm rolls before serving.
