Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp red food coloring (gel)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy (about 3 minutes).
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing in vanilla extract and red food coloring until well combined.
  5. Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined; do not overmix.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Allow to cool slightly before cutting into squares and serving.
