  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp baking soda
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Coarse sea salt (for topping)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Gradually add the yeast mixture and stir until combined. Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  3. Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat oven to 425°F. Punch down dough, divide into small pieces, and shape into bite-sized pieces.
  5. Boil water with baking soda; add pretzel bites one at a time for 30 seconds each. Transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  6. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
